Gardening

Ludlow School are very please to announce that we have won a special prize at the Shrewsbury Flower show.

sdc15105

Shola Thomas, Eliza Chinn, Georgia Richards and Angus Turner, all Year 9, had to design a vintage garden for the 'garden show that never was', as the 1914 flower show was cancelled due to the outbreak of the first world war.  The design had to be 4 metres square and be in keeping with the style of an Edwardian garden.

The Shrewsbury Flower show will be held on Friday 8th August and Saturday 9th August.  The hard landscaping of our garden will be constructed before the flower show, and the students will help out with the planting on  the first day of the show.

Ludlow CE School

An 11-16 community school, we are located in the beautiful county of Shropshire. We consider ourselves to be a very special and unique school in terms of what we offer to our students and the local community. This is due to being an inclusive Specialist Technology and Sports College, as well as having a church foundation. The school prides itself on the great opportunities we offer our students within and outside the normal curriculum. The school curriculum itself is broad, balanced, and offers students the courses and qualifications that are respected by employers and the local community- in effect, real qualifications! We are the most improved school in Shropshire, in terms of 5 A* - C grades including English and Mathematics, and achieved our highest ever figure in 2013 We are proud of what we have achieved, but we do want to push on still further. We have achieved this without resorting to filling the timetable with "soft options" that raise school points scores but do not challenge students intellectually.

The school has been rewarded for its efforts by being awarded Most Improved School status four times in the past seven years. Our core and option subjects are strong, and the specialist subjects of technology and sport contribute to the whole school ethos and success. We pride ourselves on the quantity and quality of after-school activities we are able to offer in a wide variety of areas. We provide a great amount of support in all other curriculum areas as part of an enrichment programme to ensure all students are able to excel in their preferred area of interest. The school may need to share information, as we work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a pupil's welfare. Our aim is to cater for all students and to prepare them for the next stage in their lives.

We believe that the total educational experience of our students is vitally important to ensure that when they leave us they have the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and attributes to succeed in whichever area they wish.

Message from Head Boy and Head Girl

We feel very privileged to be the Head Girl and Head Boy at such a fantastic school. Over our four years here we have developed so much, both in and out of the classroom. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at Ludlow School and we are grateful for the amazing start it has given us for later on in life. We want to make sure that all our younger students feel the same as we do when they reach Year 11.
