Ludlow CE School
Welcome to Ludlow Church of England School. We are a 11-16 community school located in the beautiful county of Shropshire. We consider ourselves to be a very special and unique school in terms of what we offer to our students and the local community. This is due to being a truly comprehensive, inclusive, as well as having a church foundation. The school prides itself on the great opportunities we offer our students within and outside the normal curriculum. The school curriculum itself is broad, balanced, and offers students the courses and qualifications that are respected by employers and the local community - in effect, real qualifications!
Headline results at the school have improved seven times in eight years up to 2014. With the new accountability measures, we are again in line with national results. This figure, of 54% (employing Best Results), and 52% (First Entry Results) is related to students achieving 5 A* - C grades at GCSE level, including English and Mathematics – subjects vital for a young person. We are proud of what we have achieved, but we do want to push on still further. We pride ourselves on the quantity and quality of after-school activities we are able to offer in a wide variety of areas. We provide a great amount of support in all other curriculum areas as part of an enrichment programme to ensure all students are able to excel in their preferred area of interest. Our aim is to cater for all students and to prepare them for the next stage in their lives. We have a particularly strong intervention programme, as well as “Session 6s” to assist Year 11 students achieve their goals. Levels of Progress are in line with national figures when employing Best Results; 68% 3+ Levels of Progress between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4, for both English and Mathematics. First entry results were 67% and 63% 3+ Levels of Progress in Mathematics and English respectively.
We have closed the gap between our disadvantaged students and our other students who achieved 5 A* - C grades including English and Mathematics, by 18% since 2012, and by 11% compared to 2013. In this aspect, English has improved by 31%, and Mathematics by 10%. Our EBacc figure has remained constant, at 18%
The school has moved forwards massively since its last inspection in 2012, and we are confident in our claim to be a Good school.
We believe that the total educational experience of our students is vitally important to ensure that when they leave us they have the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and attributes to succeed in whichever area they wish. We also take the safety of our community very seriously. The school aims to help parents understand that the school, like all others, has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils. The school may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a pupil’s welfare. We are sure that you will join us in this partnership. Thank you for visiting our website, and if it does not answer all of your questions please do not hesitate to contact the school.
