The system of care for your child within this school is rather special. We refer to it as the Vertical Tutor Group System.
In simple terms, your child will spend his/her five years with us in the same group for purposes of registration, tutor time activities and mentoring.
Within each class there will be students of all ages, from Year 7 through to Year 11; we try to keep group sizes to a minimum and each group typically has 4 or 5 students of each age group within it.
Your child will develop a close relationship with the tutor, who is your first point of contact with the school. There will be nobody within the school who knows your son or daughter better than the tutor. We hope that over a five-year period you too can establish a close and positive partnership with him or her.
For purposes of organisation, there are currently 32 tutor groups; there are 8 tutor groups in each of 4 houses - St. John, St. Giles, St. Peter and St. Laurence and these are managed by the Curriculum Learning Tutors.
Your child's care and guidance is primarily in the hands of this tutorial system, which supports the wider learning community of the school.
The school is also supported internally by agencies such as Shropshire Youth, Barnardos Family Support Worker and an employed qualified Counsellor.
