Student Profile - Keeley

I left Ludlow CE school in June 2024 and began College in September 2024 down in Gloucester. The course I am currently studying is a Level 3 Extended Diploma in sport (Rugby) which lasts for 2 years. It covers many aspects of the sporting industry such as anatomy and physiology, coaching and leadership, psychology within sport and the business side of sport. GCSE PE helped me with this course as majority of the content is covered from GCSE just in more detail. I have lessons 4 days a week (excluding Wednesdays for fixtures) and Monday and Fridays are half days, with training in the afternoon.

Because the College I attend is in Gloucester, I live on campus during the week, however there is the option to get the bus which you would get from Leominster. But, if you do have to catch a bus, this means you would have to miss training sessions as they finish after the buses leave. Living at college is a great experience as I get to stay with my friends, have better facilities for training and have a good social life outside of Ludlow.

Being at Hartpury has given me many opportunities involving my rugby career. I have premiership and international players coaching me on a weekly basis and the facilities they provide are world class. The facilities include 4 grass rugby pitches and 1 4g pitch, 3 gyms, fitness suites, ice/hot baths, recovery suites, technology and analysis rooms and more (all within about 50 metres from my bedroom. From college, I can attend University at Hartpury, which many people do, focusing on sport degrees or I can attend other universities that offer similar degrees.
